The joint venture will offer Canadians turnkey solar systems, and will initially focus on solar hot water systems.

TORONTO and BURLINGTON, Ontario – Canada's largest renewable energy developer, SkyPower, has entered into a new joint venture with Excess Energy, a leading installer of solar power systems in Ontario. The joint venture, called SkyPower Lite, will offer Canadians turnkey solar systems, and will initially focus on solar hot water systems. The effort is an important part of SkyPower's strategic direction, and leverages its experience in large wind and solar development.

President and CEO of SkyPower, Kerry Adler, said: "SkyPower Lite is another important step toward building a cleaner and greener energy future for Ontario." He noted that the pilot project coincides with the provincial government's 2007 ‘green objectives,’ which target 100,000 installed solar systems as part of an innovative 'Go Green' climate change strategy. "SkyPower Lite is proud to play an important role in this initiative," Mr Adler added.

Managing director of SkyPower Lite and former president of Excess Energy, Vern Sherwood, said: "This partnership brings together a combination of 15 years of experience in off-grid and grid-tie solar and wind energy systems for light commercial and residential buildings. Canadians need and want an opportunity to have solar sysems on their roofs as a responsible option to reduce pollution and energy costs."

A Lehman Brothers company, SkyPower is Canada's largest renewable energy developer with interests in more than 200 wind and solar projects at various stages of construction and development across the country and in some USA states, representing more than 11,000 megawatts of potential capacity. Working with local partners, SkyPower also has wind energy under development in India, and hydro projects under development in Panama. More at www.skypower.com and www.excessenergy.net
